Camprodon

Camprodon is a small village of medieval origin, located in the center of the Ter river Valley, in the Ripollès area (Pyrenees of Girona).
In the center of Camprodón there are two rivers, the Ter and the Ritort, which get together in the Pont Nou or Puente Romano (Roman bridge) (13th century).
Camprodon has a long tourist tradition. During the mid-twentieth century it literally became the summer resort for all the Catalan mid class families. They where all settled along the “Paseo Maristany” or the “Paseo de la Font Nova”, which borders the Ritort River.
The Monastery of Sant Pere, founded in the 10th century by the Count of Besalú and the Church of Santa María, is one of the most important buildings in Camprodón.
Music is very important when talking about the city.
Camprodón is the birthplace of the great music composer Isaac Albéniz, Born in 1860 this talented musician has nowadays a Museuem dedicated to him.
We reccomend to take into account too the Music Festival that is held every year here.
Nowadays, Camprodon is undoubtedly a lively town, with shops and activities all year round.
