Camprodon
Camprodon is a small village of medieval origin, located in the center of the Ter river Valley, in the Ripollès area (Pyrenees of Girona).
In the center of Camprodón there are two rivers, the Ter and the Ritort, which get together in the Pont Nou or Puente Romano (Roman bridge) (13th century).
Camprodon has a long tourist tradition. During the mid-twentieth century it literally became the summer resort for all the Catalan mid class families. They where all settled along the “Paseo Maristany” or the “Paseo de la Font Nova”, which borders the Ritort River.
The Monastery of Sant Pere, founded in the 10th century by the Count of Besalú and the Church of Santa María, is one of the most important buildings in Camprodón.
Music is very important when talking about the city.
Camprodón is the birthplace of the great music composer Isaac Albéniz, Born in 1860 this talented musician has nowadays a Museuem dedicated to him.
We reccomend to take into account too the Music Festival that is held every year here.
Nowadays, Camprodon is undoubtedly a lively town, with shops and activities all year round.

The famous Roman Way limits the valley to the south, and continues way down to the Garrotxa.

Romanesque monuments of the area
The radiance of the Romanesque in this region has left an important artistic heritage that embraces a large part of the Catalan Romanesque architectural typology.
It is one of the largest concentrations of Romanesque art in Europe, with more than 98 monuments scattered throughout the region.
The monasteries, castles and more than sixty churches complete the natural beauty of the whole region. A tour through some of its most brilliant and representative monuments will allow you to follow the routes of the past.
